Normalcy

You know the Secret Service and the Defense Forces have put Nairobi back in our hands when you're stuck in traffic for almost two hours to get to a place that would usually take 30 minutes.Just my ordeal. What an eventful weekend it was .I'll go all Kenyan and admit that I was impressed by the unusual security that saw Nairobi streets go almost totally abandoned. No vehicles and very few people. Believe me,it just never happens because this is one of the busiest places ever.I don't think too many people if any actually ever paid attention to the little details surrounding the US presidency until about two weeks ago when the media started giving us the info and what to expect throughout the weekend. This plus the security measures and detail gave us quite the tease and we all succumbed to it because almost everyone if not everyone was glued to their screens Friday evening just to see if these would be followed to the latter, and they were. The GES brought and  left an atmosphere of possibilities and optimism and the entrepreneurs'  stories were inspiring. It got me thinking, there should be one of the sort with special attention and interest on fashion hosted right here and have some of the industry's big names come in.Some of us could really use that.Anyway,President Obama left  quite an impression and frankly I've never seen a foreign dignitary appreciate being on Kenyan soil as much as he did.Anyway the heavy traffic and busy streets today simply scream "Back To Business" .So a normal Monday often normally means an outfit like the one I have on today.I love how including a bright color and some stripes adds fun to ordinary look. The clutch just happened to be in the bag, which I was unable to photograph.

Just putting it out there, leave it to Kenyans to give you a welcome fit for a king, regardless of who you are.You don't even have to be a dignitary to experience that.

Yours
Sophie

  3. Back to business sums it right. The streets were very calm over the weekend though, something rarely seen in Nairobi. Well, in due time we'll hopefully have huge fashion events come to Kenya....in the mean time, let's work with the current ones.
Anyway, I like how you paired your wardrobe staples...back to normal.

Am also loving the new blog theme...great work.
