Hey guys!
From a post on how to wear a polka dot skater dress to something totally different. You know I love a dress that makes a statement so here's another post on one. How to wear a Swahili dera fashion dress.

So back in December 2014, I bought two deras from a friend of mine who was selling them at the hostels I was staying in while I was studying at the university. I bought them and only wore one of them once and even did a post on it. Surprisingly, it's my most read post till date. Reason, I just don't know.I honestly don't even like that post because back then, I was just starting my blog and really didn't know what I was doing. The pictures were not the best quality, but somehow, people look through it lol.

Anyway, time for a better looking swahili dera post, don't you agree?

So I might just be one of the slimmest Kenyan girls you can come across lol! That's what my friends say , but I don't believe it because it's an exaggeration..However, what's true is I just have one of the tiniest waists you can spot around, barely hitting the 22 inche mark and as such, it is very unusual for me to wear certain things.

I like to wear things that are cynched around my waist area because I love the size of my waist. As you can imagine, I often pick modern styles, often inspiredby Pinterest but for some reason, this swahili style dera dress just looked so appealing to me at the time and I still like it.

I love yellow so much, especially when the sun is nice and bright. So I got this one alongside the green one in that post I did back then. Funny, I'd never worn it up until recently when I was last at home. While the last time I wore a dera before this, I belted it and wore it with flats, this time I just wore it plain as it was and wore some very comfortable chunky heels, then added this small bag to go with it. I wore this to church by the way.

A lot of slimmer girls will shy away from wearing a swahili dera fashion dress such as this one because around here, curvier girls are the ones who often rock them but I say, just try it. Just because people are used to a certain body shape wearing something does not mean you can't give it a try. It's all about how you wear it and your confidence.

They are decent, comfortable and amazing for the weather we've been having lately. Such hot weather. Their fabric is suitable for that. You can wear them with sandals or some nice open shoes and because they make a big statement on their own, you don't need to do the most with the rest of the things that go into your dera ootd(ie. hair, accessories, makeup)

I did feature it one of  my YouTube videos whereby I was showing seven casual outfits to rock on the weekends. In case you didn't get to check it out, you can click below.

I hope you liked this post on how to wear the swahili dera fashion dress. Get one if you don't own any yet and if you do have one, don't just make it a dress to rock inside your house. Take it out sometime.

Thanks for stopping by
