You know the Secret Service and the Defense Forces have put Nairobi back in our hands when you're stuck in traffic for almost two hours to get to a place that would usually take 30 minutes.Just my ordeal. What an eventful weekend it was .I'll go all Kenyan and admit that I was impressed by the unusual security that saw Nairobi streets go almost totally abandoned. No vehicles and very few people. Believe me,it just never happens because this is one of the busiest places ever.I don't think too many people if any actually ever paid attention to the little details surrounding the US presidency until about two weeks ago when the media started giving us the info and what to expect throughout the weekend. This plus the security measures and detail gave us quite the tease and we all succumbed to it because almost everyone if not everyone was glued to their screens Friday evening just to see if these would be followed to the latter, and they were. The GES brought and left an atmosphere of possibilities and optimism and the entrepreneurs' stories were inspiring. It got me thinking, there should be one of the sort with special attention and interest on fashion hosted right here and have some of the industry's big names come in.Some of us could really use that.Anyway,President Obama left quite an impression and frankly I've never seen a foreign dignitary appreciate being on Kenyan soil as much as he did.Anyway the heavy traffic and busy streets today simply scream "Back To Business" .So a normal Monday often normally means an outfit like the one I have on today.I love how including a bright color and some stripes adds fun to ordinary look. The clutch just happened to be in the bag, which I was unable to photograph.
Just putting it out there, leave it to Kenyans to give you a welcome fit for a king, regardless of who you are.You don't even have to be a dignitary to experience that.

Exactly.SOMEONE TELL CNN that Kenya is by no means a hot bed for terror.I couldn't believe that ridiculous headline CNN had on their news yesterday. Why does the international media always depict such a negative image of African countries?Sure we've had a couple of attacks in the recent past but this was certainly an exaggeration. Why choose to focus on so much negativity now when there's so much good happening.Like the fact that this is the land of President Obama's dad and there's a tourism expo at his home village area in his honor? Why not tell the world that this is East Africa's leading economy,or The Home of Champions(our athletes are always winning races) or that it's The Cradle of Man if you follow the evolution theory or focus on the numerous attraction sites we have that make for great safaris?I just think it's high time people stopped thinking of Africa as a land of death, destruction, disease and despair, because there's a lot more that's good.I am doing my internship in a company that receives so many tourists and volunteers who are usually impressed by their Kenyan experience at the end of their trips, work camps and projects, proving the media wrong.Just saying.
I let the outfit speak for itself today because I have to say, there's so much paralysis in the city because of President Obama's arrival later today.Certain roads have been closed for his exclusive use and convenience, some people have made their weekend start today to avoid being stranded at the city center, even the airport will be closed for some hours today .Social media is a buzz of jokes and excitement and funny, there's now a new beer and alcohol free cocktail named Obama.Oh Kenyans lol!!It probably has something to do with the fact that this is his father's land and his visit is being taken as a home coming even though it's strictly a business trip.Anyway,Nairobians, just stay home if you don't urgently have to go to the city center which is what I plan on doing and enjoy a nice weekend at home. It's only for three days then we can get our city back.Use the hash tag someonetellcnn on twitter to see what Kenyans had to say about the headline.
Ah yes!! Trust a dress with a simple cut to give you sophistication if sophistication is what you're searching for.
This is one of my favorite dresses for the reason that I love looking mature and classy in an office look every once in a while and this particular one I think does the trick. It's nice and long enough making it decent, sleeveless meaning it's very easy to throw a jacket over it in case it gets a little cold and also fun because it's checked.I just wore a simple pair of black shoes with this and this skinny brown belt and tata!!I think my hair goes well with this, don't you?Just saying.

This is for you if you just love having fun in a casual look.Stripes are so much fun to wear.Pair stripes with denim and get a better effect.Add a cap and look cooler.Turn it backwards and look more playful.Wear such boots and finish up a nice street ensemble.Hope you're all fine and that you like the outfit. This is the last one in my five part series on how I like to wear long denim shorts.I like to wear them when I need to stay comfortable, which is why we all wear them anyway, and the series remember has been all about maintaining this without looking like you just don't care. It's been about looking stylish while comfortable in them.If you missed out on the previous looks, you might want to check them out on the blog.
I love these particular shorts for the extra little details around the pocket areas.I just added a maroon belt for some contrast in color and that was it.
Thanks for stopping by,enjoy your weekend.See you Monday.Cant wait to share something different.
