Wearing Knee High Gladiator Sandals With a Stylish Ankara Dress

I thought the heat was back in Nairobi and that it was time to rock my knee high gladiator sandals.Not too sure anymore.

Well, they don't exactly reach my actual knees, but that's what they are called other than just tall gladiator sandals and this time, I am wearing them with my stylish ankara dress if I do say so myself but first...

So, about this outfit.

I used to have this immense fear of wearing Ankara. I used to associate anything Ankara with older women and just traditional stuff.Traditional stuff bit was probably because when I was younger our help would often watch Nigerian movies and these are what I saw them wear for their traditional ceremonies back then.

Glad that mentality has changed and nowadays, you can very well just have a stylish Ankara dress and pair it with some cute accessories, bag and even cool shoes like my knee high gladiator sandals.

Thing is, there's many designs nowadays that you can choose from and that is certainly a great thing if you ask me because that is how I got to this number on today's post.

So, for my stylish ankara dress, I opted for this design but first, how I got this fabric is, I was going to participate in a competition about four years ago and it had an African wear segment and I couldn't think of much, until my mum came to my rescue.She said she had some fabric she bought but wasn't really going to use soon so she did not mind giving it to me.

I decided to make a stylish ankara dress from it that could also be worn like a button down with something underneath. Maybe a dress or even pants and a top.I also made a skirt with the remaining fabric which is actually what I went for for the competition.

So I styled this ankara dress with my knee high gladiator sandals and a brown woven bag.I just felt like going for a woven kind of bag would make more sense because it is such an African thing.

I really just love how knee high gladiator sandals add some extra personality to an outfit and in this instance, they were not an exception.Made my Afro wear cool don't you think.
