How To Style A Maxi Skirt With An Oversize Sweater

Without a doubt, I love a good sweater. You have probably noticed that from most of my recent blog posts and it is for the simple reason that they are just so easy to style.My last post in fact was on how to wear a sweater to work on casual Friday. You also know about my love for midi skirt outfits but today I would like to talk about a combination of a sweater and a different kind of skirt.

Today I would like to give you my idea, just one of many, on how to style a maxi skirt with an oversize sweater.

So I haven't been seen in a maxi skirt too often in my life just because I'm really on the slim side and a maxi skirt emphasizes it a lot, not that it's a bad thing but oh well. I also usually feel like it just takes a bit more effort to walk around in one but once in a while I do put together some maxi skirt outfits. It's fashion, it requires some experimenting every once in a while.

I bought this beautiful burgundy maxi skirt while thrifting somewhere in Nairobi. I really love it. The color is one of my favorites to wear and it's got some tiny black floral prints. I actually loved that it is long but doesn't exactly sweep the floor while I walk.

I also bought my oversize sweater from the same area in which I got the skirt, making this maxi skirt outfit an all thrift look.

So it's a little tricky styling a maxi skirt with an oversize sweater because of the issue of proportions. Normally, one would style a maxi skirt with something more fitted at the top or choose to style their oversize sweater with something more fitted at the bottom.Well I dared.

My maxi skirt is high waisted which I love so what I did was simple. I just tucked the sweater in and the look instantly was polished. So then because the sweater and maxi skirt cover me up almost completely, I reached for some silver flat open shoes. I was avoiding black on this day because I wanted the pink and burgundy to pop more. i completed the look with this simple burgundy poch.

For once, I wore eye shadow which my friend just put on me and I loved how the color of it went with my look of the day.
