I hope you're all doing well. So am I this Monday afternoon but I thought I would share this post on a dress I absolutely love. It's easily one of my favorites and makes for the perfect brunch date outfit on a nice weekend or any day of the week you prefer to step out for brunch with those close to you.
You really don't need to have the exact same dress but I hope you find some great inspiration on what to wear to brunch through my beautiful brown self-tie brunch date dress.
I also figured I'd go for a straw hat for a brunch look on a nice, hot sunny day especially if you will be eating on the outside as opposed to indoors. I also chose a straw hat to match the hat and instead of going for heels, I figured some simple brown sandals would cut it considering sometimes on weekends, you just want to give your feet a rest and also considering the length of the dress that I absolutely love.
So, first of all, can you believe it's a thrift? Yes people, I got this brown little sleeveless dress in a pile of vintage clothing being sold at one of the thrift areas in Eldoret town. It was huge, so big that my brother kept laughing wondering how it's possible that I thought of buying such a dress. Besides, it looked more like traditional attire, but I had a vision for it.
It's in a beautiful brown color but what I love most about it are the leaf prints all over the dress. Amazing and so pretty. I love prints and would choose printed items on any day as opposed to plains especially for a brunch outfit idea. I feel like brunch outfits should be fun so go with prints, colors like yellows or dresses and outfits that generally have interesting cuts.
I feel like the self-tie detail makes this otherwise very plain dress all the more classy. My tailor sure did a great job making it fit me considering it was about three sizes larger. It also worked so well with the golden accessories.
So, for brunch on a nice warm day,
1. Choose a nice sleeveless, strapless, spaghetti strap or an airy sleeved one because you should always be comfortable in such weather.
2. I like pinks, yellows and bright, cute, girly colors for brunches, but as you can see, browns work too. Just pick the printed ones instead of plains. They are more interesting.
3. Choose prints that work for your body.
4. While I'm wearing a longer dress, depending on where your brunch will be at, feel free to try different lengths and even silhouettes.
5. Remember to accessorize.
6. Heels work too and so do sneakers, but just wear the right kind of sneakers for your brunch dress.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you loved my brown brunch date dress and my few tips when it comes to what to wear to a brunch date. I have more looks in the video below.

Sophie
