Ankara Skirt And A New Domain

Hello there!First of all,in case you haven't noticed,I'm now .com and no more of blogspot.com for me.I'm so happy about that and I couldn't wait to put that phrase up.It's something I should have done a long time ago come to think of it.However, it was one of my goals at the start of this year and I'm glad to have achieved it in January. Many thanks to my friend's Erick and Douglas for helping me decide on where to buy it and helping me link my blogger posts to my site. The hardest and most interesting part was of course left to me alone.Choosing a new template.I must have tried around 30 of them(no kidding or exaggeration there)for real.If you stopped by my blog over this past weekend and wondered why things looked so crazy from one minute to the next, that's the explanation.I'm still not even sure I've wholly settled for this one yet lol!
I had this skirt made in 2014 and wore it a whole year later.I was initially afraid of wearing Ankara or what Kenyans here call Kitenge.I always though I'd look funny in such plus I was always so used to seeing grown women wearing them as I grew up, up until recently when people, especially Nigerians came up with more stylish ankara designs. My mum bought this fabric for herself but I was so desperately in need of an Ankara outfit for an event so she gave it to me.I thought of the designs I wanted for it and had my tailor make a dress which I'll share in a subsequent post and made a skirt with the remaining fabric which is what I have on here.I paired it with everything black so that the focus would be on the print on the skirt.

Thanks For Stopping By

  14. Congrats on the new domain and relaunch, Sophie! I know it can be so much work, I had mine done back in September. I, too, had help with changing the domain, in addition to the template, but I had to manually transfer over all my former blog posts, all 500+ of them! In the end, you feel well accomplished and feel as though a fresh, clean, slate has been created; I wish you much success with it!

As for your outfit, what's not to love?! I adore everything about it, especially that gorgeous ankara skirt! The print and fit of it is so modern, while keeping the Kenyan tradition, such a great fuse. I think these prints will be making a stronger impact in the western fashion world in the upcoming years, as aztec and other indigenous prints have.

Thanks so much for the inspiration, beautiful, and I hope you have an amazing week ahead!

  18. I already congratulated you on your new site on your previous site. Am sorry about the struggle of choosing a template, I had my IT guy do it for me because the struggle was too real I love this ankara skirt, I don't know you were shy to rock on the blog for that long!! You look dashing and matching it with black was a brilliant idea.

  21. Congrats on the new domain doll. Am totally loving the print and design on the Ankara skirt. I also have a bad habit of not wearing my Ankara pieces for months after I make them. But they are such majestic pieces and styling them can be a little tricky. Looking forward to the dress.
