Hi guys!!
Today we are talking ,how to dress vintage without looking old.Yes people there is a fear of young people trying out vintage clothing because they do not want to look like granny but hey, it's possible to rock the vintage vibe great.
I hope this look also shows you how to dress retro for school because it kinda has that school vibe as well but first...
Allow me to apologize for the quality of these pictures.
I was at the mall and this time I carried my camera but the security guard stopped my friend Hazel and I to ask whether we had a permit to be taking those photos from the customer service desk.Uuuh we did not but we were too tired and hungry to go asking for such so we used a phone lol.
We just rushed because after going into all those shops, which is something I love doing, we couldn't wait to eat so, yeah.I clearly need to buy a new phone for blogging because I also feel like so many of my ootds never go live on the blog so that's a plan.
I also do not like repeating an outfit exactly how I wore it the first time so of course I had to find ways to share this look.
I love wearing plaid clothes generally.I bought this plaid vintage dress that I really love from a pile of thrifted clothes.
Vintage dresses specifically and I couldn't wait to wear it because to me it looked so vintage chic.I imagined wearing it to the office, to church and a few other places and in my head, it just worked.
So from among all my vintage look ideas, I decided to go for this retro for school look.Well, kinda just because I am nolonger in school lol.
I wore the dress which by the way took me forever to iron and for that back to school kinda look, I reached for my white sneakers.I really love white sneakers and shoes generally because nothing screams back to school like a pair of sneakers.
Also, another thing to keep in mind in thinking of how to dress retro for school is the accessories that go with whatever retro piece you are wearing. My favorite hat, this baker boy one was a good addition in making this look fun and then I just went for some long burgundy earrings to match my basket bag.
So this bag and the belt that I used to cinch my waist gave the look a vintage chic vibe because otherwise, it would have been a bit blaaah.I love how the belting of the plaid vintage dress just enhanced my body shape and notice I went for a chunkier belt as opposed to the skinny ones that I often go for for a belted kind of look.
So this is my friend Hazel. We were deskmates throughout my first year in high school and we've been friends to date.Always choose your friends wisely by the way. It's very important.
We had lots of fun and I love how my plaid vintage dress felt so nice and comfortable for a nice warm Saturday out.
There you go guys. This is my idea of how to dress vintage without looking old.If you are going back to school by the way, this is also a great way of how you can dress retro for school.
One last thing, if you own nothing plaid, you might want to reassess your situation lol. It is one of those prints I consider must haves.Do you agree?
Thanks for stopping by

Love this! I always think Kate Middleton pulls off an "older" style without looking old, and I really admire that!

Hi Sophie, I'm glad you left a comment on my blog because now I know about your blog and get to visit it!
ReplyDeleteOn to your outfit: I LOVE THIS DRESS. The fact that it's vintage makes the dress even cooler, really. It has a clear vintage-y vibe to it but at the same you've modernized it beautifully with that belt - also love the belt, by the way!
Vintage shops aren't a huge thing where I live but recently I've been keen to explore the vintage scene here, and I hope I find gems that are as good as your dress!

Vintage plaid dress is a great find! I can relate taking pictures using mobile sometimes don't cut it to the blog because I think it's not good enough. But your photos are fine and clear so no worries about it.
