Hey guys! Long time no post, but I hope you’re doing great.
I am more than fantastic. I just got back from an early year vacation to a
beautiful place in Nakuru and I thought I’d share some things about it
here. It was initially supposed to be a
three-day vacation at Ziwa Bush Lodge, Nakuru, but we decided to extend it by a
day. By we, I mean my sister Marion who so graciously accompanied me there and I.
So it cost us Ksh 500 each to get to Nakuru via public means and well, it took a little over three hours to get to the town. The driver was honestly so slow but well, we arrived. Let me just mention that it surprisingly cost Ksh. 700 each to get back to Nairobi from Nakuru, which I found a bit strange. U almost thought we were being conned.
Anyway, upon arrival in Nakuru, we took a motorbike to the resort, located 15kms from the town centre.
The closer we got to the Ziwa Bush Lodge, the more I felt like I was headed to a paradise of some sort. It felt like I had successfully gotten away from any chaos, troubles and hassles of the world, why? Because the resort is located on a vast piece of land quite far from town. It’s on such a quiet place with fresh air. My first impression upon getting to the entrance was “wow, what a peaceful and lovely place!” I was already impressed coming from Nairobi which can be rather chaotic being the capital.
As you can imagine, my sister and I were quite beat from the trip which is why we really appreciated the receptionist we found. She was so polite, very warm and quick. She received us in a friendly manner and after checking in, alongside another lady, they carried our bags and showed us to the Ziwa Bush Lodge private cabin which would be our home for the first two nights on the property. It was a nice, simple white building.
When we got to house, which they call the cabin and the door was opened, I instantly loved it. It was so minimalist in décor, so easy on the eye just how I like house décor. The place was predominantly black, white and brown, neutral colors that you never go wrong with.
The livingroom had two dark couches, a small one and a bigger one with a tiny table right at the centre. It was such a well-lit living space thanks to the two huge windows and the glass door. To know me is to know that I love pictures so I really appreciate good lighting.
The room also had two big plants, a TV mounted on the wall and a phone. It felt like home already.
So, because it’s an open plan style house, the cabin’s kitchen was right next to the livingroom. Funny, it was my favorite part of the entire cabin. I found it so aesthetically pleasing, with the kitchen consisting predominantly of white cabinets with black handles. I loved it. The cutlery was mostly black and so were the electronics. These included a microwave, a toaster, a cooker and well, the fridge which was in the room adjacent to the kitchen was grey in color.
I really loved that they had a double sink in the kitchen. This is a self-catering cabin by the way so you have everything you need to cook your own food there. Should you have too many dishes to wash after you’ve had your meals, the sink is large enough to accommodate them, considering it’s in a double sink style.
So you can use the adjacent room for any extra washing, or laundry, and its black door is the back door that will lead you to the back of the cabin.
So this Ziwa Bush Lodge private cabin is a two-bedroom house. I stayed in the master of course while my sister stayed in the next room. The master bedroom was huge, and so well lit because of the large window. In fact, during my stay there, I found myself waking up so early because as soon as the sun was up, the whole room would be all bright and yes, it did have curtains lol.
My four-poster bed was huge which I really loved and I’m so tiny bodywise so it’s very interesting that I love my beds that huge. They always just give me a sense of freedom lol. There was sufficient closet space. I didn’t actually fill the cabinet since it was just a four-day vacation but I love that it was a big enough closet area. I love closet spaces because I am such a fashion girl. There was also a nice plant in the room which made it look even lovelier.
I had a TV in my room, which sadly wouldn’t work so I had to watch in the livingroom. I didn't mind it though. I also had an extra blanket in there which came in quite handy because Nakuru gets so cold at night.
My sister’s room had two smaller four-poster beds and two large windows instead of just one. So it was so well lit and she told me she found herself waking up earlier than usual too because of it.
The house has a shared washroom area. So it’s just one toilet and one bathroom, but it’s huge. It had some dark tiles against the white wall that made it so beautiful. I appreciate a good bathroom because the bathroom is one place where you get some me-time.
The outside of the house had a nice comfortable seat where you could just hang out and take in some fresh air. There's a swing right outdoors and a slide where your kids could play should you travel with them. There's also a pool a few steps away and an onsite restaurant. This place is as beautiful as it is peaceful.

How much are their rates per day? (Say the unit you sampled for instance...) Can't find this on their website - and are they part of Fractional Warehouse?
