I hope you're great. So before we even delve into today's post, that is on modern preppy style I'm sure we can all agree that we have at some point or even many times dressed or been dressed in preppy attire. Well, in any case we've been through school and well some of us had to wear uniform everyday, a preppy look that involved peter pan collar dresses, shirts, blouses, pullovers, pleated skirts, tartan skirts, checked ones, blazers and so much more. Truth be told, i only liked one uniform out of the four that i had to wear throughout my primary and high school. The rest if the three, I only wore because it was compulsory.
Anyway, we can now move on to the look on how to dress preppy and modern because this, I actually really like.
It's really easy to achieve a preppy look but I chose the easiest of all ways, a classic little black sleeveless, skater dress with a long-sleeve white button-down shirt. These are literally two wardrobe pieces I believe everyone should have in their closet.

Well, for this preppy style, I chose a velvet skater dress because I love velvet. The velvet fabric always looks so rich. I also preferred it in skater style for this outfit because I wanted some volume around my hips. I got it while thrifting somewhere in Nairobi and I have been in love ever since I got it.
I also thrifted the white button-down shirt although the truth is that I own a couple of these because they just never fail me on any given day.
When it comes to dressing preppy and modern, I like to add accessories such as fedoras, baker boy hats and the likes otherwise you risk looking like an actual school girl. That isn't what we want, right? This could easily happen especially if you're small like me body wise I mean.
So here, I picked a red hat just to give this outfit a pop of color. it was needed and well, to keep up with the color of my hat, I also went for a red bag, one of my favorites.
So instead of going for more formal shoes, I decided to make my preppy outfit a bit sporty by picking these white sneakers that I absolutely love. They made this simple look more fun and cooler. For accessories, I picked some long earrings and a nice black belt and voila, turned out great.
I took these pictures inside a museum here in Nairobi and honestly, I am only now noticing just how great they turned out. I really love everything about this look and I honestly really love modern preppy style even more. I feel like you can try out preppy outfits in different places and for different things such as a job interview, to church, and so many other places.
