How To Dress For Summer Vacations: Fort Jesus Mombasa

I hope you're doing very well. It's been almost a month since I last posted and I honestly feel bad that this has been such a horrible blogging year for me yet it is this year that I have the best blogging content because I'd been in Europe for a while and visited the very best sites in the most interesting fashion.

It's summertime and well, I figured I'd share these very many images from my birthday vacation last year. This was from the day I went to Fort Jesus and generally, Old Town Mombasa, a place I hadn't been to in seven years. I hope amidst these very many pictures, you enjoy the different sites of this beautiful fort and the summer vacation outfit too.

So, for this summer vacation outfit, I got this two-piece set from Shein about two years ago and needless to say, it was just waiting to be worn. It's a pair of shorts and a long vest that goes beyond the shorts so it could easily fool you into thinking I am not wearing anything underneath if you look at me from the back lol. That said, I absolutely love it.

It was such a hot day and the colors and feel of this two piece really came in handy, not to mention the fabulous fun print ofcourse. I decided to wear some silver jewellery and then went for a hat for accessories.

When it's a question of how to dress for summer vacations, you always want to go for the happy prints such as floral clothes, happy cuts such as ruffles, bright colors, you know. It also helps to pick out your sandals, ofcourse hats and your favorite sunglasses too. 

That said, let's talk just a bit about Fort Jesus. There's so much to see here and I've visited the Fort about six times. Everytime I've been there, I've had to appreciate the wonder that is this UNESCO Heritage site. Can you tell from the many pictures that left me spoilt for choice?

Well, the Fort was built by the Portuguese, which I've always found very interesting because you would think it's the Arabs or the British because of their history with Kenya. However, it was there long before the British invasion of our country. It was built between 1593 to 1596 ad honestly, it is massive. The desgn was by a certain Giovanni Battista and it resembles or takes the shape of Jesus on the cross. It's purpose was to protect the Portuguese I believe during those times when there was war and in different places within the Fort you can see remains of firearms and ammunitions. 

The place is massive and covers over 2.3 hectares, being the main attraction of the old town, and generally the beautiful city of Mombasa.
